This cover reflects a generative approach on what a bio citrine magazine could be. The fruits pattern on the cover tries to mimic the feeling of bio/organic agriculture by attributing different quantities, positions and colours to different fruits.
This was possible using Processing language. We first started by defining the fruit shapes, then construct a grid. We then correlated different fruits and colours to different months, and associated them with certain probabilities (as an example). That way we could generate patterns that would exhibit fruits from different seasons.
The last iteration includes typography in the covers, which we also coded so that the system knows which cover to design based on the month. By clicking the mouse we could generate covers, and save the ones we like by pressing “s”.
This project was developed within the scope of the Generative Design course, part of the Master in Design and Multimedia at the University of Coimbra (Coimbra, Portugal), and under the guidance of Professors Tiago Martins and Sérgio Rebelo.
